Stefan's Birthday Weekend, Mar 2009
We kicked off Stefan's birthday weekend celebration with a chocolate cake (baked by me) and off camping with friends in the Moondyne Caravan Park, Toodyay. The camping ground is set amongst the trees in the bushland of the Avon Valley and it's about 1.5 hours drive north-east from Perth. The campsite is equipped with power, hot showers, toilets, kitchen, fridge and running water. What more can we ask for? We bought our camping tent from Angie & Paul Dominic. Took us a while to figure out how to set it up with the help of Simon but we managed to set it up in the end. The weather was warm but cool in the evenings, making it a perfect sleeping condition out on the ground with the birds chirpping early in the morning (nature's alarm clock). It was a relaxing weekend spending time with good and close friends playing volleyball, BBQing and generally catching up on the latest news. We explored Toodyay which is about 4 km from the caravan park and nothing impressive jumped up which I can describe as a must see for a tourist. Several highlights of the weekend include the poem composition by Thomas and co for Stefan on his birthday, meeting Ella's new man and playing scrabble with Stefan trying to cheat again all the time. Lowlights include Simon being sick the morning after a night of heavy boozing and late night or early morning chats about the female species (yes, we were listening...we only pretend to be asleep), and Thomas dislocating his shoulder whilst playing volleyball which gave all of us a pretty good scare. We will go camping again that's for sure.
